Early Life and Education

Abba Ahimeir was born Avraham Stavsky in the town of Bobruisk, Belarus, in 1897. As a young man, he studied law at the University of Odessa and became involved in Zionist organizations. In 1919, he immigrated to Palestine and joined the Hapoel Hatzair labor movement.

Zionist Activism

Ahimeir soon became disillusioned with the moderate policies of Hapoel Hatzair and joined the Revisionist movement led by Vladimir Jabotinsky.
