Shanghai is a city that never sleeps, and its culinary landscape is just as vibrant and diverse as its nightlife. From street food stalls to Michelin-starred restaurants, there's something to satisfy every palate in this bustling metropolis.

I've been living in Shanghai for over a year now, and I've had the opportunity to sample some of the best food that the city has to offer. In this article, I'll share some of my favorite experiences, from hole-in-the-wall eateries to world-renowned dining destinations.

Street Food

No visit to Shanghai would be complete without sampling the city's street food. From savory snacks to sweet treats, there's something for everyone to enjoy.

One of my favorite street food stalls is located in the Xuhui district. The stall specializes in sheng jian bao, a type of pan-fried bun filled with pork and vegetables. The buns are crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, and they're absolutely delicious.

Another great place to find street food is the Yuyuan Garden. This popular tourist destination is home to a variety of food stalls, selling everything from dumplings to noodles to seafood.

Restaurants

In addition to its street food, Shanghai is also home to a wide variety of restaurants, from casual eateries to fine dining establishments.

One of my favorite restaurants in Shanghai is Lost Heaven. This restaurant serves up a modern take on traditional Chinese cuisine, and the food is absolutely delicious. The menu features a variety of dishes, including dim sum, noodles, and rice dishes.

Another great restaurant in Shanghai is Ultraviolet by Paul Pairet. This Michelin-starred restaurant offers a truly unique dining experience. The menu is constantly changing, and the dishes are often inspired by art, music, and fashion.

Food Tours

If you're looking to experience the best of Shanghai's culinary scene, I highly recommend taking a food tour. There are a number of different food tours available, so you can choose one that fits your interests and budget.

One of my favorite food tours is the Shanghai Street Food Tour. This tour takes you to some of the best street food stalls in the city, and you'll get to try a variety of different dishes.

Another great food tour is the Shanghai Michelin Star Restaurant Tour. This tour takes you to some of the best Michelin-starred restaurants in Shanghai, and you'll get to experience some of the finest dining that the city has to offer.

Shanghai is a culinary paradise, with something to offer everyone. From street food stalls to Michelin-starred restaurants, there's something to satisfy every palate in this bustling metropolis.

I've only scratched the surface of Shanghai's culinary landscape in this article, but I hope that I've given you a taste of what this amazing city has to offer. So come on, get out there and explore! You won't be disappointed.
