Barry Lamar Bonds was born on July 24, 1964, in Riverside, California. His father, Bobby Bonds, was a former major league outfielder, and his mother, Pat, was a stay-at-home mom. Barry has two older sisters, Cheryl and Sheila.

Bonds' family moved to San Mateo, California, when he was young. He began playing baseball at the age of five, and he quickly showed a natural talent for the game. Bonds attended Junipero Serra High School in San Mateo, where he was a star athlete in baseball, football, and basketball.

After graduating from high school, Bonds was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the first round of the 1982 MLB draft. He made his major league debut with the Pirates in 1986, and he quickly became one of the best players in the game.

Bonds played for the Pirates for 15 seasons, and he helped the team win the World Series in 1990. He was traded to the San Francisco Giants in 1993, and he played for the Giants for 10 seasons.

Bonds retired from baseball in 2007 after a 22-year career. He finished his career with 762 home runs, which is the most home runs in MLB history. Bonds also won seven National League MVP awards, 12 Silver Slugger awards, and eight Gold Glove awards.
