Apartheid was a system of racial segregation that was implemented in South Africa from 1948 to 1994. The system was based on the idea that the different races in South Africa were not equal, and that the white race was superior to the other races. Apartheid was a brutal and unjust system that caused great suffering for the non-white population of South Africa.
