After his military service, Turner returned to Cincinnati and joined his father's advertising company. In 1963, he took over the company and renamed it Turner Advertising. Turner quickly grew the company into one of the most successful advertising agencies in the country.

In 1977, Turner purchased the Atlanta Braves baseball team. The Braves were struggling at the time, but Turner quickly turned them into a contender. Under Turner's ownership, the Braves won 14 division championships, five National League pennants, and one World Series championship.

In 1987, Turner founded the Turner Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting the environment. The foundation has supported a variety of environmental initiatives, including land conservation, clean energy, and climate change research.

Turner is also a vocal advocate for nuclear disarmament. He has donated millions of dollars to organizations working to eliminate nuclear weapons, and he has spoken out against the use of nuclear power.

Legacy

Ted Turner is a legendary figure in the media, sports, and environmental worlds. He is a pioneer in the cable news industry, and he has helped to shape the way we consume news and entertainment. Turner is also a generous philanthropist who has donated millions of dollars to various causes.

Turner's legacy is complex. He is a brilliant businessman and a visionary leader, but he is also a controversial figure. Turner has been criticized for his outspoken nature and his sometimes-abrasive personality.
