Sharon is a founding member of the Society for the Protection of Nature in Israel (SPNI),and he has served on the board of directors for many years. Sharon has received numerous awards for his work. In 2006, he was awarded the prestigious Israel Prize, the country's highest honor for achievement in the arts, sciences, and humanities.
