Early Life and Education

Roy graduated with a degree in French literature in 1930.

Literary Career

Roy went on to write several more novels and short stories, including Where Nests the Water Hen (1951),The Cashier (1955),and La Rivière sans repos (1970).

Roy's work is often characterized by its lyrical prose, strong sense of place, and psychological depth. She was particularly skilled at portraying the lives of ordinary people, and her work often explored the themes of social justice and equality. Roy was also a committed feminist, and her work often featured strong female characters.

Social Activism

In addition to her literary career, Roy was also a committed social activist. She was involved in a number of causes, including the fight for social justice and equality. Roy was a strong supporter of the labour movement, and she often wrote about the struggles of working-class people. She was also a vocal critic of racism and discrimination.

Legacy
