Henry Parsons Crowell was an American industrialist, philanthropist, and civic leader best known as the founder of the Quaker Oats Company. Born in Quakertown, Ohio, in 1855, Crowell began his career in the food industry at a young age, working in his father's grain mill. After gaining experience in the milling business, Crowell moved to Chicago in 1877 and founded the Quaker Mill Company, which would later become the Quaker Oats Company.

The Quaker Oats Company

Under Crowell's leadership, the Quaker Oats Company became one of the most successful food companies in the United States. Crowell was instrumental in developing Quaker Oats' iconic brand image, including the famous Quaker Man logo and the slogan "Quaker Oats, the World's Breakfast." He also oversaw the company's expansion into new markets and products, including puffed rice, cornmeal, and flour.
